How does Cover Whale classify minor and major violations?
Cover Whale requires disclosure of major violations within five years of policy date and disclosure of minor violations and accidents within three years of policy date.
Minor Violations
- Speeding (less than 20 MPH above the posted limit)
- Improper or excessive lane changes
- Following too closely
- Accidents
- Running a red light or stop sign.
- Failure to yield
- Suspension for child support payments
- Suspension for medical card lapse
Major Violations
- Speeding 20 MPH or more above the posted limit
- Reckless/careless driving
- Passing a stopped school bus
- Texting/talking without a hands-free devise while driving
- Hit and run
- Drag racing
- Driving under the influence (DUI or DWI)
- Criminal conviction including assault or homicide involving a motor vehicle
- Driving with suspended license other than child support or medical card lapse
